Awarded Fiscal Year 2024 Community Project Funding – Lovettsville, VA
$959,757: STAG – Drinking Water State Revolving Fund
$375,000: STAG – Clean Water State Revolving Fund
Through the Fiscal Year 2024 Community Project funding process, the Town of Lovettsville was awarded $1,334,757 by the Environmental Protection Agency’s STAG Drinking Water and Clean Water State Revolving Fund for Fiscal Year 2024. The Town of Lovettsville would like to thank Congresswoman Wexton and staff for their coordination in forwarding our request for the Town’s priority projects to include the replacement of transite water and lining of sanitary main service lines.
The awarded $1,334,757 in STAG funding will be utilized for two distinct sections of the Town’s water and sanitary infrastructure. The physical location of these sections are as follows:
- Quarter Branch Road (Berlin Pike to Lange Drive)
- North Berlin Pike (Tilgham Drive to W Broad Way)
The requested funding totaling $1,848,000 is comprised of approximately $1,405,250 ($959,757 awarded) for replacement of up to 3,850 linear feet water main service lines and $442,750 ($375,000 awarded) for lining of up to 3,850 linear feet of sanitary main service lines. The requested funding will expand the Town’s ability to replace up to 7,700 linear feet of water and sewer mains comprised of transite which is beyond what the Town is in the process of addressing through the Town’s Capital Improvement Plan.
Town staff anticipates that the entire awarded funding of $1,334,757 can be incurred within a year; however, the start of construction would be contingent upon the Virginia Department of Transportation and Loudoun County permitting processes that will be required to be completed, which is out of control of the Town. Design of Quarter Branch Road water main replacement is anticipated to be completed this summer (2024), and construction can begin in winter 2025 (January-February). The North Berlin Pike water main replacement will follow and can be completed within a year.
