STATEMENT FROM THE TOWN OF LOVETTSVILLE ON THE CANCELLATION OF THE 2024 LOVETTSVILLE OKTOBERFEST

The Town of Lovettsville and Bow Tie Fund have come to an agreement regarding the settlement of claims related to the cancellation of the 2024 Lovettsville Oktoberfest.

LOVETTSVILLE, VA – On June 24, 2024, the event management firm contracted for the 2024 Lovettsville Oktoberfest, Bow Tie Fund, notified the Town that due to the owner’s unexpected health challenges that precluded their ability to carry out these services, the firm would no longer carry out the planning and performance of the 2024 Lovettsville Oktoberfest. With only nine weeks remaining until the 2024 festival, several replacement event management firms that were consulted and the Town determined that the Town’s ability to execute the festival at the size and scale, while maintaining the utmost quality and tradition, was not possible in the limited time period. As Oktoberfest is an incredibly important community event for the Town, the Town Council’s difficult decision to cancel the 2024 Lovettsville Oktoberfest did not come lightly.

As of October 22, 2024, the Town of Lovettsville and Bow Tie Fund have come to an agreement regarding the settlement of claims related to the cancellation of this year’s Oktoberfest. The resources the Town devoted to this event and the impact that the cancellation of this year’s Oktoberfest has had on the local businesses, vendors, and visitors who eagerly anticipated this annual festival were taken into consideration in reaching this agreement.

A formal Request for Proposal for the event management services of the 2025 Lovettsville Oktoberfest was recently held and proposals were accepted through November 1, 2024. The Town of Lovettsville will hold the 29th Oktoberfest celebration September 26-28, 2025.
