JOY PRITZ DAY
WHEREAS, Joy Pritz, a dedicated mother of two daughters and three dogs, has been a proud resident of the Town of Lovettsville since 2008, demonstrating her commitment to the community through her career as a math teacher in the Loudoun County Public School system and her active involvement as a volunteer on numerous professional and public committees; and
WHEREAS, Joy was elected to the Lovettsville Town Council in 2020, where she embraced public service with passion and dedication, serving the Town with integrity and vision, and was appointed Vice Mayor in January 2023 by her peers on the Town Council, recognizing her exemplary contributions, leadership, and steadfast commitment to the welfare of the Town; and
WHEREAS, Vice Mayor Pritz has spent numerous hours outside of Town Council meetings to personally call and work one on one with fellow Town Council members to explain and discuss issues impacting the Town to make Town Council meetings more productive, and has been a pivotal force in revitalizing the Town of Lovettsville’s events and community spirit following the challenges of the pandemic, working tirelessly to engage and support the local business community; and
WHEREAS, Vice Mayor Pritz has exemplified outstanding volunteerism and dedication to the Town by participating in the planning and execution of all events, always willing to do whatever was needed, from loading and unloading bales of hay for Oktoberfest to picking up rain-soaked and mud-covered trash bags at numerous events, mastering the challenges of driving the Town Kubota and making countless trips to the Town barn to retrieve missing items. Her tireless efforts and selfless contributions have significantly enhanced the success and enjoyment of our community events; and
WHEREAS, her lasting contributions to the Town include her exceptional leadership as Chair of the Commerce and Business Development Committee, her work on the Mayfest Subcommittee, and the Oktoberfest Subcommittee, as well as countless hours spent fostering connections among residents, businesses, and visitors. Vice Mayor Pritz’s service is characterized by her enthusiasm, determination, and unwavering dedication to enhancing the quality of life in Lovettsville for all its citizens; and
WHEREAS, Vice Mayor Pritz will conclude her distinguished service as a public official at the end of her term on December 31, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of commitment, collaboration, and positive impact on the Town of Lovettsville.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, that I, Christopher M. Hornbaker, Mayor of the Town of Lovettsville, alongside the Lovettsville Town Council, do hereby declare January 1, 2025, as JOY PRITZ DAY throughout the Town of Lovettsville. We encourage all residents, businesses, and visitors to join us in celebrating Vice Mayor Pritz’s remarkable contributions and extending our deepest gratitude for her years of service, leadership, and dedication to our community.
